Jane Blundell, Australia
Trained in visual arts, Jane Blundell has over 30 years of experience as a professional artist and as a teacher. She has developed a technical mastery, much of which she shares on her website and blog, of colour mixing, sketching, watercolour, inks, pencils and art materials.
A versatile artist, she sketches without limitation, choosing different styles and approaches depending on the subject matter – buildings, seascapes, portraiture, landscapes and detailed studies of plants, rocks and everyday objects – working with pen, pencil, ink, watercolour, and water soluble sketching tools.
Australian born, Jane has lived, worked and exhibited in Australia, the US and Singapore. The latter was Jane’s home for 4½ years and is the inspiration for many of her works. She held a solo exhibition in Singapore, trained Docents at the Singapore Art Museum, and featured in a television documentary on her art that was broadcast throughout Asia.
Jane is a member of the prestigious Australian Watercolour Institute and a multi-award winning artist. She illustrated the children’s book, Kayla & the Magical Tree, and authored the art reference books Watercolour Mixing Charts and The Ultimate Mixing Palette: a World of Colours.
Jane joined the Urban Sketchers in June 2013 and loves the interaction with sketchers from all over the world. She regularly gives workshops and demonstrations both in Australia and internationally.
